Fair Labor Standards Act violations are the reason that 72 restaurant workers in Houston will be paid more than $275,000 in back wages, according to Examiner.com.
Taconmadre Mariachi & Grill failed to pay many of its restaurant workers overtime and minimum wage, which is required by the FLSA. Some employees even worked more than 90 hours in a week without receiving time and a half of their hourly rate for those additional 50+ hours.
Three locations were found to be in violation during a U.S. Department of Labor investigation. The restaurants are located on Edgebrook Avenue, Bellfort Street, and Brownwood Street, all in Houston, Texas. Owned by the Ernesto Enterprises Corp. and Jonathan Enterprises Corp, the restaurants also were accused of failing to properly record the hours that staff worked.
