Houston Oil Company Sued for Not Paying Overtime Wages

Posted on Apr 28, 2011

The Benchmark Oil & Gas Company of Houston is being sued for not paying overtime wages, according to the Southeast Texas Record.

Harvey Johnson is trying to obtain more than $33,000 after not being paid overtime, as he was required to work 50 hours a week as a pumper. The company was paying Mr. Johnson as a salary employee instead of an hourly employee, even though he should have been entitled to the time and a half pay under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

The suit was filed in the Eastern District of Texas, Beaumont Division, and the Texas overtime lawyers at Kennedy Hodges handle similar cases on a daily basis.
