What is minimum wage?
The federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour applies in Tennessee unless local wage laws mandate a higher wage.

What is the minimum wage for tipped employees?
Eligible Tennessee tipped employees are generally covered under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), which mandates that tipped employees can be paid a minimum of $2.13 per hour from the employer, as long as this wage combined with tips adds up to at least federal minimum wage ($7.25 per hour ) for all hours worked. If it does not, an employer must make up the difference in cash.

When am I eligible to earn overtime?

Federal overtime laws apply in Tennessee, which mandate that non-exempt employees must be paid a premium of 1.5 times their regular rate of pay if they work more than 40 hours in a workweek.

Am I entitled to a lunch or rest break?
Tennessee law requires that each employee scheduled to work six (6) consecutive hours must have a thirty (30) minute meal or rest period.
