Nevada wage and hour laws

What is minimum wage?
Nevada minimum wage is either $8.25 with no health insurance benefits provided by employer, or $7.25 with health insurance benefits provided by employer.

What is the minimum wage for tipped employees?

Nevada state law does not allow employers the use of a tip credit. Tipped employees should be paid the full minimum wage for everyhour they work, which is either $8.25 (with no health insurance benefits), or $7.25 (with health insurance benefits).

When am I eligible to earn overtime?
Nevada employees must be paid 1.5 times their regular pay rate if they work more than 40 hours in a workweek. Employees who are paid a base rate of one and one half times the minimum wage or less per hour may be eligible to overtime if they work more than eight hours in a workday. Federal wage and hour laws may apply.

Am I entitled to a lunch or rest break?
Rest periods are based on the total hours worked daily at the rate of 10 minutes for each 3 1/2 hours worked. An unpaid meal period of 30 minutes of uninterrupted time shall be authorized for an employee working a continuous period of 8 hours.
