What if I did not get permission to work the overtime hours?

A: This is similar to the last question. If you employer knew or should have known that you were working the hours, then you are entitled to be paid. Remember, on close calls, the law favors applying a result that benefits the employee.  So, if your supervisor regularly assigns you tasks that clearly cannot be completed during normal work hours, then you should be entitled to overtime pay even if you did not receive permission.
