What are the laws on employer retaliation under the Family and Medical Leave Act?

A: The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) entitles eligible employees to take unpaid, job-protected leave for specified family and medical reasons with continuing group health insurance coverage. Many times, employees use this leave after the birth of a child.

The Department of Labor recently issued updates to this ruling. The new fact sheet explains FMLA protections and actions that an employer is prohibited from taking against an employee.
