"…substantially related to firefighting or law enforcement activities…”
There have been several recent Fair Labor Standards Act lawsuits brought by paramedics and EMTs against companies that did not compensate their overtime pay with a premium of 1.5 times the regular pay rate. Some companies only pay employees their overtime premium if they work a certain number of hours a week. Under the law, any hour over 40 is compensable with 1.5 times your regular rate as a non-exempt employee.
