Texas restaurant employees are not immune from Wage and Overtime Violations

Celebrity Chef Hit with Overtime Lawsuit

Mario Batali is a celebrity chef with his own TV show, but that doesn't mean he is excused from following federal labor laws. The former "Iron Chef" and his business partner were involved in a wage and overtime lawsuit that alleges management at his restaurants cheated waiters and tipped employees out of tips.

The lawsuit claims that restaurant workers and servers were not paid minimum wage and worked overtime without being paid their overtime wages. Illegal tip-pools are common in the restaurant industry and Texas tipped employees may be at risk of illegal tip-pools.

Batali has restaurants in Las Vegas, Los Angeles and New York.

The restaurant industry is one of the most affected industries for workplace overtime and wage violations. Read our article for a look at restaurant overtime and wage violations nationwide.
