Houston: River Oaks company sued for fraud - Texas overtime cases

River Oaks oil tanker company sued for overtime; Employee files against American Eagle Tankers for fraud

Employees who work at large corporations may be intimidated to ask questions when it comes to the company's pay practices. However, it's usually the biggest companies that save the most money by cheating their employees out of the wages they are owed.

Case in Point

A former employee is suing American Eagle Tankers for fraud. The former worker claims that from 2004 through 2008 he was paid next to nothing for his overtime work in the Philippines. After complaining to supervisors, the employee claims that the company:

  • falsely accused him of getting paid for work he hadn't done, and
  • fired him in an attempt to conceal the company's illegal methods of compensating employees.

The company employs more than 3,000 people across the world. Jobs with American Eagle Tankers include:

  • Tanker operators
  • Tanker drivers
  • Line haul driver
  • Transporters

American Eagle Tankers is a petroleum shipping company with offices in Houston. Many employees working in shipping, the oil industry, ports, and docks are frequently told they are not eligible for overtime.
