Florida is one of many states which raise their minimum wage level to account for changes in costs of living every year. Florida adjusts its minimum wage based on changes with the Consumer Price Index in the south region. This year, the 36-cent increase reflects a 4.9% increase in the cost of living.
How this affects Florida tipped employees
If you are a tipped employee in Florida, and your employer qualifies for a tip credit of $3.02, he or she must pay you an hourly wage of $4.65 per hour, effective January 1, 2012.
