Hundreds of workers were brought in to help with the clean up effort after the BP oil spill along Louisiana's coast last year. Three workers who were a part of that cleanup crew are filing a lawsuit against BP claiming that the multi-billion dollar company denied them overtime pay.
The plaintiffs claim they were misclassified as independent contractors and were not paid overtime. The plaintiffs claim thousands of workers were brought in to assist with the cleanup effort along the Gulf Coast after the disaster. The suit is seeking permission to allow people with similar complaints to join the case. The companies named in the lawsuit are BP and The Response Group LLC, a business based in Cypress, TX.
