Working Off The Clock

Houston, Galveston, San Antonio and Katy, Texas

When an employee is working for his employer, he should get paid for that work. It is as simple as that. Unfortunately, some employers see things differently. Either they are unaware of the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act or, more likely, they are taking improper measures against their employees to improve their profit margin. No matter what the reason, you deserve to be paid fairly. If you have spent time working off the clock, without pay, the attorneys of Kennedy Hodges are here to stand by your side.

The law firm of Kennedy Hodges takes pride in helping workers in Houston and throughout Texas. We believe in what we do. We believe it is important to see that people are compensated fairly for the work they do. Our team is prepared to exhaust every ounce of our energy to see that those who have not been paid properly due to working off the clock get what they have earned.

Working off the clock can take a variety of forms, including:

  • Employees engage in work duties, such as setting up their work area, changing into uniform, roll call or other tasks, as soon as they arrive, but they are told not to clock in until their scheduled start time.
  • Employees are told to clock out exactly at their scheduled end time, but are still required to finish their work, do cleanup duties or other work-related tasks afterward.
  • Employers permit or encourage their workers to take work home with them, but do not include the time spent working at home in the employee's time record.
  • Employees are forced to work through breaks or lunch, but the time is still deducted from their work hours.
  • You work through your lunch break or eat lunch at your desk, but the time allowed for lunch is deducted on your time record.

We work to get compensation for employees who have worked off the clock without pay. Our goal is to get you compensation quickly. Your pay should go to you, not back into your employer's pockets.

You pay nothing unless we get compensation for you

Unless you are 100 percent free of work duties, you should be compensated for what you are doing. Working off the clock is not fair to employees. Our lawyers take cases with one goal in mind: getting fair compensation for our client. We are ready to use creative, aggressive and intelligent means to meet that goal.
